ANES 86001 Anesthesiology

Students will participate in the care of patients in the perioperative and procedural environment to understand the principles of medical management of patients undergoing general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and sedation. Students will become acquainted with the multiple roles that the anesthesiologist plays both inside and outside of the operative room. Learning will primarily occur in operating rooms and procedural areas, where medical students will be paired with attending faculty. Students will participate in the management of patients undergoing various types of surgery, including general surgery, head and neck surgery, thoracic and cardiac surgery, and OB/GYN procedures.
