MEDS 86018 Aging and Dementia Care Administration

Students will participate with and interact with administrative and clinical leadership within the James L. West Center for Dementia Care to orient and familiarize themselves with how a long-term care community operates in both the business and clinical domains.  Students will experience the different levels of care provided at the James L. West Center for Dementia Care along with the business case for support for the clinical and business operations of the Center.  Areas of focus will include familiarization with long term care rules and regulations, operating strategies, leadership positions (Healthcare Administrator, Director of Nursing, VP of Education and Executive Director among other roles.  Students will attend QAPI (Quality Assessment Process Improvement) committee meetings and will complete a QAPI project at the conclusion of the elective.
