SURG 86002 Breast Surgery

Students will participate in the operative care and management of patients with benign and malignant diseases of the breast. Students will have exposure to the evaluation of breast diseases, including the performance of a comprehensive breast examination and interpretation of breast imaging, as well as operative management with an emphasis on breast cancer. Additional clinical presentations will include the evaluation of breast mass, nipple discharge, or breast pain. Other areas of interest will include understanding breast cancer pathology, risk factors associated with breast cancer, and genetics. Students will be exposed to a wide spectrum of cases involving early-stage as well as locoregionally advanced breast cancer.
