IMED 86001 Allergy and Immunology

Students will participate in the outpatient evaluation and management of common clinical problems in allergy and immunology. Students will assist in the diagnosis and management of anaphylaxis, asthma, allergic contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, drug allergy, food allergy, immune deficiency, and rhinitis/conjunctivitis/rhinosinusitis. Students will be exposed to a wide range of diagnostic studies and treatment modalities used in allergy and immunology, including CT sinus imaging, prick and intradermal skin testing, allergen immunotherapy, drug desensitization, patch testing, food challenges, and immunomodulatory therapy. Students will see patients in different age groups (pediatric and adult) with different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and with diseases of varying severity.
