IMED 86005 Hematology/Oncology
During the Hematology/Oncology elective, students will have the opportunity to participate in the inpatient and outpatient care of patients with cancer and/or hematologic problems. During the elective, the students should develop an understanding of the diagnostic work-up and evaluation of patients with more common hematologic conditions and malignancies including breast cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer. They will develop a better understanding of psychosocial issues related to cancer patients. They also will be involved in the evaluation of patients with pain related to hematologic and oncologic emergencies.
