IMED 86006 Infectious Disease

Students will participate in the evaluation and management of hospitalized patients with infectious diseases, emphasizing practical management and utilizing principles of infectious epidemiology and clinical microbiology. Students will be acquainted with the fundamentals of evaluating clinical presentations of infection and developing treatment plans. Students will be exposed to a wide range of patient populations involving inpatient care of immunocompromised patients and general infectious disease consultation, including those presenting with community-acquired acute and chronic infections, opportunistic infections in HIV-infected patients, and organ transplant recipients, and hospital-acquired infections.
