IMED 86011 Transplant Nephrology

Students will participate in the care of patients with acute and chronic kidney disease who require kidney transplantation. Areas of focus will include the evaluation and management of patients with end-stage kidney disease who require renal replacement therapy, identifying potential kidney transplant candidates, and post-transplant care. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the pathophysiology, pathology, and pharmacology of common disease conditions that affect the renal system. Students will spend time in various clinical areas including kidney transplant clinic, the hospital setting, and kidney transplant selection committee.
